My healing journey led me to write the songs on this CD. I kept a digital mini recorder with me to catch my melodies and lyrics as they came to me during this very creative yet challenging time. The inspiration came from many places; as I took walks that connected me to nature, after a meditation deepening my connection to God, after learning and then practicing what I took home from teachers, workshops, books and CDs deepening my awareness of living mindfully. They came from a place of truth, from the heart and beyond, from a place of quiet, inner peace, gratitude and joy.
The present moment is where I find inner peace and I am always in the present moment when I sing, connecting to the breath, breathing in and breathing out. Singing puts me in a place of deep love and gratitude.
I so happy to share this CD with you.
Music and Meditation Open Hearts
Peaceful Places
Peaceful Places is a meditation CD for beginners and longtime meditators with teaching tracks and guided meditations of three different forms of meditation: Concentration Meditation, Mindfulness Meditation, and Yoga Nidra and a bonus track of a mantra chant.
Concentration Meditation trains the busy mind to focus and gain clarity and peace. Mindfulness Meditation brings you into the richness of the present moment, acknowledging and accepting whatever comes without judgment, and Yoga Nidra is an ancient practice and one of the deepest of all meditations. All you do is lie down (or sit if necessary) in a comfortable position and listen to my instructions. I will guide you through a systematic series of body, breath, and awareness techniques to take you into a profound level of stillness and insight.
Research has shown that all of these forms of meditation, if practiced regularly, have many physical, spiritual, and emotional health benefits. To name just a few, meditation can reduce stress and anxiety, lower blood pressure, and improve your sleep quality.
Chanting
Repeating certain specific sound vibrations, combining breath and rhythm, brings the mind to a state of calmness and peace. In some traditions these sounds are called mantras. Chanting a mantra is another form of meditation, bringing you into the present moment. Om Namah Shivaya is a Sanskrit mantra that means, “I bow to my true self, to the inner self, the consciousness that dwells in us all.”
Frannie has been meditating for 48+ years and is a certified Power of Awareness Meditation teacher (Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield) through UC Berkeley, MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) teacher through U Mass, Reiki Level 2 certified practitioner, and a certified Yoga Nidra practitioner. She is also intimately familiar with the 12-step program and teaches Jewish Meditation.
